Not all dresses were created equally, and that is a truth the design supremos at pared-back British brand Aligne know all too well.

For the uninitiated, Aligne was founded by Dalbir Bains as a riposte to the fast and furious production and consumption of cheaper and less conscious alternatives. Aligne instead utilises organic cotton, recycled polyester, and Lenzing EcoVero viscose and, naturally, the pieces it crafts from these very materials struggle to stay in stock. 

One such piece is its Gabriella dress, a dip-dyed, ankle-grazing denim midi that’s in equal parts cool as it is comfortable. Since its launch earlier this year, it’s been out of stock in almost all sizes, and finally, for eagle-eyed fans, it’s back – although we predict it won’t be around for long. 

Of course, it wouldn’t be a relaunch without a slight twist on the original design. The Aligne Gabriella dress that launched earlier this year was crafted from a light acid wash, while its autumn imagining is proffered in a darker, more winter-ready fabric. The result? A dress that simply needs a pair of statement stomper boots or some slick trainers to really come alive – without ever losing its grip on comfort.

This being a sustainable style offering, however, the Gabriella dress isn’t available for purchase, but rather for pre-order, which is often touted as a more conscious way of buying clothes as brands will then only purchase the quantities needed to fulfil the orders placed by customers.

Either way, this dress is a sure-fire autumn win, so run – don’t walk.
