The 90s jewellery trend is back in the limelight thanks to Instagram style mogul Monikh Dale.

Social media serves as a great source of inspiration for almost every aspect of life, whether it’s new restaurants, workout routines or fashion trends. As someone with plenty of Pinterest boards titled ‘summer outfits’, ‘cool jackets’ and the perhaps more niche ‘Lisbon looks’, it’s these photo-sharing apps that help me style my wardrobe in a whole host of new ways.

Of course, the amount of content on these apps is so vast that you need to know what, or more specifically, who, you’re searching for. So allow me to introduce you to Monikh Dale, one of the UK’s most well-dressed women.

On her Instagram, you’ll spot plenty of oversized shirts, loose-fitting trousers, formal-fitting waistcoats and voluminous dresses in a chic range of neutral shades with brighter pops of red or green appearing every now and again. And as her personal style has proved so popular, racking up almost 400,000 followers, Dale has turned her attention to design and has recently released a second collection with jewellery store Daphine.

While you might expect this to include currently trending jewellery styles such as dainty gold chains or chunky silver rings, you may be surprised to spot a throwback design that forms the core focus of the collection: cord necklaces. Yes, really.

Transforming the 90s surfer jewellery style into a chic minimalist design worthy of any Instagram feed, Dale and Daphine have focused their attention on jade, silver and gold pendants hung on a simplistic cord strand. Unsurprisingly, the result is much more elevated than the dolphin-shaped design or shark tooth many of us sported a couple of decades ago.

But it appears Dale is not alone in bringing back the retro design; cord necklaces are enjoying a resurgence on the high street as well. So if it’s throwback fashion you’re after, allow me to share five of my favourite finds – with no animal teeth in sight.
