The new neutral shade to know is cappuccino – the chicest, gentlest grey-beige. The colour is dominating denim this summer and is the perfect trans-seasonal piece to take your wardrobe through to autumn with minimal styling updates. Here are 11 of the best styles available to buy now.
Once again, but perhaps sooner than some of us would like, brown is back in fashion. Less of a high fashion trend, brown has captured the beauty and interiors world this season with shades of espresso and earthy tones making an impact.
In terms of fashion, neutral tones are an enduring trend and one of the shades making waves this season – especially when it comes to denim – is cappuccino. Light and chic for summer, but particularly appealing given the changeable weather, so it’ll work well into autumn too.
Libby Page, market director at Net-a-Porter says: “Our customers are embracing tonal dressing, as seen in the autumn/winter 2024 collections of Bottega Veneta, Ferragamo and Saint Laurent – we have seen a 716% increase in searches for brown versus the month prior, and a 100% increase in searches for beige jeans over the last six months. Personal favourites include Saint Laurent’s brown cotton-corduroy high-rise wide-leg pants and Slvrlake’s Mica low-rise wide-leg organic jeans.”
The shade lends itself to many of the trending jean silhouettes, including the directional horseshoe shape; the less exaggerated barrel-leg; roomy, baggy dad jeans; and more tailored straight styles.
Jeans look great styled simply with a cream vest or T-shirt or an off-white denim shirt with flats – either leather pumps or backless clogs. As the weather gets cooler, add a brown leather jacket, a roomy camel blazer or an oversized bomber.

Levi's XL Straight Jeans
These oversized, wider straight-leg jeans are a playful, 90s-inspired style with a tie-waist that can be worn mid or high. The rigid denim gives the silhouette a crisp and cool finish that looks great with a crisp cotton shirt worn open over a ribbed T-shirt or vest.
