Calling all non-traditional brides, this could be the look you need in your life.

It sounds like a game of entertainment journalism mad libs: Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas were married in Las Vegas by an Elvis impersonator after the Billboard Music Awards, and the ceremony was livestreamed to the world on Diplo’s Instagram.

And yet, in the year 2019 of our Lord, that is what happened last night. Turner and Jonas, who have been engaged since 2017, were married in Las Vegas surrounded close friends and family including brother Nick and Kevin Jonas and the aforementioned Diplo.

“Gonna hit up this wedding real quick,” Diplo captioned his video of the surprise wedding, which included a rendition by country music duo Dan + Shay of their hit song Speechless. For rings, Jonas and Turner opted for ring pops, and as for the dress? It was actually an ivory silk jumpsuit from Ukrainian brand Bevza

The up-and-coming label is a favourite of Turner’s celebrity stylist Kate Young, who has dressed one of her other clients, Dakota Johnson, in an ivory slip from the label previously. Other A-list fans of Bevza include Emily Ratajkowski and Lauren Santo Domingo

Turner’s jumpsuit is from the forthcoming F/W 2019 range, which is available for preorder on their website now for €580, or £500 (USD$650). The one-piece features a barely-there slip neckline and is gathered at the waist, with a soft peplum pooling into wide trousers. Fashioned from 100% silk, it will be dispatched to customers from 1 June.

Though £500 isn’t exactly a steal, it’s important to remember that in the grand scheme of things it is a great deal less than the average spend on a wedding dress in the UK, which is £1,385. The price increases for brides living in London, who are likely to spend on average £1,677 on a wedding dress.

Turner paired the jumpsuit with a pair of Loeffler Randall gold mules, which retail for $395. They’re currently sold out in several sizes on the brand’s website, but they will be restocked in July.

It’s also the perfect alternative style for non-traditional brides looking for something a little bit different for the big day.

Turner is far from the first bride to opt for a jumpsuit on the big day. Solange Knowles wore a cream-coloured jumpsuit – complete with matching cape – to her New Orleans wedding in 2014. Samira Wiley’s wife, screenwriter Lauren Morelli, wore a custom Christian Siriano jumpsuit with a beaded bodice. And at Kaley Cuoco’s 2018 wedding she changed into a Tadashi Soji lace jumpsuit with a plunging neckline for the evening reception.

If you’re looking for an alternative wedding dress, you can preorder Turner’s bridal jumpsuit now, or you can look through our gallery of ideas for out-of-the-box big day options.
