Good shoes make the world go round, but good cake is even better. So imagine our delight when we chanced across these tasty-looking heels from online boutique, The Shoe Bakery.

Florida-based couple Chris and Aiesha Campbell use buttercream, sprinkles, chocolate and cherries as their inspiration for the most delicious-looking shoe line known to man.

They set up an internet store to showcase their collection of ballet pumps and heels, which are based on cookies, chocolate sponge cakes, ice-cream sundaes and even gingerbread houses.

The shoes take around three to six weeks to create and cost between £120 and £250, depending on the complexity of design. Custom-made heels can be made on request as well.

Sadly, the shoes can't actually be eaten (probably putting your feet in them wouldn't be a great start to that anyway). But they certainly look realistic enough, and unsurprisingly, the Campbells are regularly inundated with queries about whether they're edible.

"I started Shoe Bakery with the intentions to bring something new and exciting to the world of women's fashion and set the custom heel industry on fire," said head designer Chris.

"I always had a love for the creativity of women's shoes and the love for sweets so I wanted to create something from both. All products are handmade works of art. We sketch out our idea; get the materials we need then make the magic happen using an acrylic medium.

"In order to make it look like frosting, we use the same tools that bakers use such as the icing bags and tips."
