The nominees for the 2016 Fashion Awards have been announced by the British Fashion Council.

Formerly known as the British Fashion Awards (BFAs), Fashion Awards honour industry players who have made an impact over the last year, and nominations were announced by BFC chair, Natalie Massenet, and CEO Caroline Rush, in LA.

Sponsored by Swarovski, the rebranded awards are set to be bigger than ever before, in an award ceremony in December that will see 4,000 guest welcomed to London’s Royal Albert Hall, and hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall.

The bigger awards will also allow for increased support for the BFC Education Foundation charity, which awards scholarships for design students and funds apprenticeships.

Voted for by 1,500 people working across the industry, the nominations combine up-and-coming designers, models and businesses as well as firmly established brands and names.

This year, London favourite Jonathan Anderson has wiped the floor with four nominations, both at his own JW Anderson label, and for his creative directorship at Lowe. Gucci, whose recent renaissance has rocked the fashion world, has been nominated for three – two for creative director, Alessandro Michele.

Brands competing for the top spot, include heavyweights: Burberry, Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney.

The model of the year award is set to be an interesting one – with supermodel sisters, Gigi and Bella Hadid up against each other and their friend Kendall Jenner.  

Molly Goddard, who’s become the darling of London Fashion Week in recent seasons, with her over-sized organza baby doll dresses and party-style catwalk shows, will compete against Self Portrait and the likes of Vetements’ Alessandra Rich, for the British Emerging Talent award.

This year, two new awards have also been added to the bunch: International Urban Luxury Brand (a nod to the recent surge in athleisure), and International Business Leader. Five more new awards will be given on the night, to mark career milestones for specific industry names.

It’s set to be one of the biggest nights in the fashion calendar. Get to know the nominees in the full list, below:
