This one’s for the girls who worship Lana del Rey in their AirPods.

Love it or loathe it, but Charli XCX’s new album Brat has taken over as this summer’s most popular playlist. In its first week alone, 30,000 copies were sold on vinyl, giving it the No 1 spot in the vinyl albums chart, and it received 46.72 million on-demand official streams, according to music industry mag Billboard. Clearly, she really is everywhere, and so Julia.

But Brat’s influence is now stretching far beyond our Spotify summer 2024 playlists as we reach for Von Dutch cult classic caps, mini skirts and cami tops in preparation for the ‘Brat girl summer’, which looks a bit like the warm weather summers of 2002-2008 (proving yet again that Y2K style isn’t going anywhere. Perhaps, like Charli, we too want to rewind.

Above and beyond the 00s revival, it’s the Brat album cover’s green colour that’s gaining a lot of traction, especially when it comes to fashion. Coined ‘Brat green’, it’s not unlike the lime shades that took over the catwalks in 2023, thanks to Acne Studios, Victoria Beckham, Collina Strada and Fendi. So, if you loved the look then you’re in luck: it’s proving even more popular a year on. Below, we’ve pulled together some of our favourite finds.
