Chemena Kamali’s debut collection has wowed many a fashion fan.
In the fashion week scene, every brand is trying to stand out, whether that’s through creative collections, a star-studded front row or a statement-making model selection, and this season certainly wasn’t short of talking points. Over in Paris, Sam Smith made a surprise appearance walking in the Vivienne Westwood show; The Row put its foot down and banned guests from using their phones; and Dior gave neutral shades a modern-day twist with graphic graffiti designs across a handful of looks. But one brand stood out among the crowd, becoming the talking point for many fashion fans: Chloé.
Bringing the brand’s iconic boho look back, creative director Chemena Kamali wowed with her debut collection. Stepping into the label’s 70s-inspired look, floaty dresses sat over thigh-high boots and underneath cape-like coats to create oversized silhouettes in typical feminine fashion. Colour palettes played on creams, pastel pinks and baby blues in a sea of neutral shades, while gold-tone jewellery accentuated every outfit. The collection caught the eye of almost every fashion editor, photographer and buyer across the globe, with many sharing rave reviews on social media.
“I want to bring back the feeling I had when I first stepped through the doors here 20 years ago and fell in love with the Chloé woman’s spirit,” said Kamali, who has worked on the brand under Phoebe Philo in the 00s and, more recently, Clare Waight Keller, clearly building an incredibly strong understanding of the house style.
“I want to return to the original roots of the house and build a sensual Chloé that radiates with warmth and positivity,” Kamali added. “This collection goes back to the late 70s era of the house that I feel so connected to. A time that was about a natural femininity. Sensual, effortlessly powerful and free. The fluidity, motion and movement of the Chloé silhouette is all about this freedom. I want to play with contrasting proportions in the silhouette in an intuitive way. To embrace and capture the Chloé woman’s essence, and all the contradictions she embodies. This is what defines the Chloé attitude.”
So, thanks to Kamali, the boho look is certainly back, and we’ve broken down the three styling tricks you need to know to weave into your wardrobe: sheer styling, great capes and gold-tone jewellery included.
Floaty, feminine dresses

Making up a large portion of the collection were oversized, sheer, feminine dresses. See-through fabrics combined with oversized sleeves, frilled hems and cream and pink colour palettes to truly lean into the boho look, layered over thigh-high boots to bring a harder edge.
While Kamali’s designs will forever be on our wishlists, you can lean into the look with any neutral sheer dress that focuses on floaty fabrics and voluminous detailing. Pair it with a long leather boot or studded ballet flat to add that tougher edge Kamali has created so perfectly.
Gold-tone jewellery

One of the easiest ways to elevate any outfit is through eye-catching accessories. Leaning into the boho look, Chloé opted for gorgeous gold-tone jewellery with chunky chokers, long-hanging pendants, belts and studded boots taking centre stage. Of course, if you’re more of a silver jewellery fan, sticking with that will also just as well – just be sure to opt for larger, more statement-making accessories that truly stand out against any outfit.
Create capes

While capes may not be the easiest item to shop right now, we’re willing to bet that they’ll be big business in around six months once every high street store has taken Kamali’s lead and leans into the shoulder-skimming look. Adding the detail onto trusty trench coats, dresses and even designing them as solo pieces on their own, the latest Chloé collection removed the harsh lines of structured outerwear while making statement design detail. So be sure to start weaving them into your wardrobes as soon as you spot them arriving in stores.
