A riff on the classic bloomer has taken the fashion world by storm, and now it’s here to update your spring line-ups.
We all know the feeling: spring finally arrives, the sun peeks through the clouds, and suddenly everything in your wardrobe feels too structured, too serious, too… well, it’s just not the breezy, romantic vibe we’re going for. Normally, we’d be reaching for a flowing maxi skirt or a poplin sleeve dress. But this season, there’s a trouser style that’s making a comeback: bloomers.
Yep, you heard right, bloomers. Before you write them off as something plucked straight from Bridgerton or your grandmother’s loft, hear me out. These ruffled billowing trousers with a Victoriana edge are making a strong case for becoming a spring staple.
Dua Lipa, Lily James and Sabrina Carpenter have already been spotted wearing vintage-inspired pantalettes. And with voluminous sultry silhouettes dominating the spring/summer 2025 catwalks, bloomers are starting to look like they might be just as essential as your go-to jeans.

When styling, take cues from Chloé and pair yours with an oversized, lace blouse and sculptural wedge heels to play with proportions. Or channel Miu Miu’s mix of prim and undone by wearing shorter styles with opaque tights, ballet flats and a slouchy knit.
While they might seem like a bold choice, bloomers are surprisingly versatile when styled right. Luckily, there’s plenty of room to experiment with shape. It all depends on how statement you want to go with your look. Lucy Reber, Stylist’s fashion director, says: “Dress them down with a white ribbed vest and clean line leather jacket in a soft neutral tone. Or you could go full vintage nightwear with a flowing lace blouse and a pair of delicate leather sandals.”
And with so many versions to choose from, there’s never been a better time to lean into the regency-romantic style. Keep scrolling to shop our favourite bloomer styles now.
