Get to know a/w 2018’s hottest trends with a little help from Beyoncé

When Beyoncé and Jay-Z took to the stage together during their On The Run II tour last week, we had all the feels. She was powerful, captivating and worthy of every queen meme the internet is producing. While we continue to be in awe of her musical (and dancing) talents, we also couldn’t miss her knock-out wardrobe.

We’ve been taking sartorial cues from Beyoncé since she first came on the scene. If you didn’t dress in camouflage and know all the words to Survivor were you ever really a fan? Thankfully, for all of us living in the Beyhive, her style has progressed from DIY crop tops to hot-off-the-runway looks. From leopard print to space-age silver, Beyoncé (naturally) is ahead of the fashion curve by taking on the biggest trends for next season, now.

1. Leopard print

Leopard print was all over the a/w 2018 catwalks and Beyoncé looks like she’s stepped straight off the Tom Ford runway and onto the stage in this one. Take inspiration from her brightly coloured leopard print or opt for a more tonal version à la Victoria Beckham for the autumn.

2. Space-age silver

That futuristic trend we saw a couple of seasons ago (remember the Chanel space rocket?) is still running strong for a/w 2018 and of course Bey knows that. Take inspiration from Balmain’s catwalk show to fall in line with Beyoncé’s standout look.

3. Cape crusader

Be your own superhero in this strong, stylish and kick-ass look by Dundas. From Erdem to Loewe, the cape was shown some serious love on the runways, and we can’t wait to trial this trend.

4. High gloss

The biggest trend to come out of London and Milan was high-shine patent leather, from Simone Rocha to Eudon Choi it’s all about a lacquered look for a/w 2018.

5. Thigh-high boots

Boots have become a perennial staple, with the thigh-high overtaking the ankle boot as a wardrobe favourite. Make like Beyoncé and combine your boots with the patent leather trend for a season winner, accentuated by her Givenchy glitter bodysuit.

6. Parka perfection

Dad dressing is still big fashion news. First there were ugly dad trainers, and then the ugly dad anorak that is taking on cooler iterations come next season thanks to Balenciaga and Calvin Klein. Copy Beyoncé and try yours come autumn with an abundant supply of sass.

7. Logo mania

Vintage-inspired logos are back in a big way and Bey has us looking to join our nearest Gucci gang.
