Co-ords are the versatile items to invest in for 2024 – this is how to style the sets across all seasons.
This time of year can be a bit tricky when it comes to fashion. While the weather app suggests thermal layers, the shops are already stepping into the new season; we’ve even spotted bikinis dropping in at H&M and River Island.
If you’re unsure what you should add to your existing wardrobe right now, fear not, as the Stylist team has shared the under-£150 buys they’ve made so far this year. Want even more good news? We’ve found an outfit formula that’ll work way beyond the season you buy them in: co-ords.

While co-ords are usually associated with summer months (who doesn’t love a linen shirt and shorts set?), they’re also a hero item across all other seasons. That’s right, with some simple styling hacks, you can make a knit cardigan and skirt or a strapless top and trouser pairing work for these chilly months as well as for upcoming spring/summer 2024.
Take Olivia Palermo’s denim set (above), for example: layering over a warm roll-neck jumper and adding knee-high boots makes it winter-ready. Come spring, a shirt and skirt can be worn on its own with simple sandals and a straw bag.
As one of the hardest working and most versatile items you can spend your hard-earned money on right now, we suggest investing in one of these clever co-ords to see you through the year in serious style.
Shop best co-ords
Aligne square neck co-ord
Style for winter: To make this organic cotton set cold-weather proof, simply add a cosy roll-neck jumper underneath with classic ankle boots.
Style for spring: Once temperatures rise, switch the jumper for a white cotton shirt or wear as a cami top and jeans with sandals.
Cos wool cardigan and skirt co-ord
Style for winter: Equal parts stylish and warm, this knitted maxi skirt and cardigan set will work hard for winter with the addition of hidden thermals and a wool coat on extra chilly days.
Style for spring: While wool is a warmer material than most, you could easily wear this cardigan undone over a simple vest top and swap winter boots for a chunky sandal.
Zara pinstripe strapless top and trousers co-ord
Style for winter: Bandeau tops are back, and while they’re the perfect ‘nice top’ to wear with jeans, this ready-made outfit is best layered over a long-sleeved top or knit for winter.
Style for spring: Ever versatile, you could break up this set and wear the top with a denim maxi skirt and the trousers with a vest top and shirt duo.
Damson Madder top and midi skirt set
Style for winter: We’ve already told you leopard print is big news for 2024, so this set is a sure-fire win. Wear with tights, knee-high boots and a heavy-knit cardigan while it’s still cold.
Style for spring: When daffodils are in bloom, you’ll want to strip back the layers and wear with loafers and a lightweight trench.
Reformation Blair two-piece
Style for winter: This chic set is giving Chanel vibes, so while little styling is needed, try adding socks and pumps with a tailored coat.
Style for spring: You’ll want to show off this set as much as possible, so wear as it is with a basket bag and strappy sandals.
& Other Stories trouser suit
Style for winter: A suit in a classic shade is one of the most timeless co-ords to invest in. Wear this to work with a shirt half buttoned up over a roll neck top, tuck both of them into your trousers and wear the blazer undone.
Style for spring: Simply add a pair of white trainers and a matching white T-shirt for a spring office look that’ll never fail to impress.
Kitri vinyl coat and trousers set
Style for winter: Firstly, how fun is this coat and trouser co-ord? Kitri is known for its bold prints, and this monochrome look will work across all seasons. You’ll want to wear it for weekend walks with a bright jumper underneath and cream boots.
Style for spring: Vinyl will be too warm for summer, but perfect for spring. All you’ll need is a strap top and dad sandals to complete the look.
Monki rib cardigan and trouser co-ord
Style for winter: V-neck knitwear is having a moment, so you’ll be ticking off multiple trends with this set. Layer over a white long sleeved top and add a fun faux fur coat - another winter mini trend.
Style for spring: Ditch the fluffy coat and opt for a bomber jacket instead. Thinking even further ahead to summer holidays, you’ll want to wear the cardigan open over a bikini top for a seaside stroll.
Mango knitted skirt and jumper co-ord
Style for winter: Take note from Mango and style this knit co-ord with knee-high boots. The only additions will be thermal tights and a maxi coat.
Style for spring: Yes, you’ll still want to wear your knitwear throughout spring, too. Just go for bare legs and ballet pumps with this throw-on-and-go set.
