Stay ahead of the fashion curve with Stylist’s roundup of the biggest trends off the spring/summer 2025 London Fashion Week catwalks.

As London Fashion Week draws to a close for another season, some key trends are already starting to emerge from the catwalks for spring/summer 2025.

The city was abuzz with excitement as a host of designers and labels unveiled their latest creations on the catwalk. What truly sets London apart is its unwavering spotlight on raw talent, and this year was particularly special, with the city celebrating the 40th anniversary of London Fashion Week. This milestone not only highlights the city’s vibrant fashion scene but also its enduring legacy of creativity and design innovation.

From the ethereal beauty of Bora Aksu’s heartfelt tribute to his late mother, which left the audience in awe, to the bold and innovative designs of S.S. Daley, backed by none other than Harry Styles, London designers certainly pulled out all the stops.

Here are some of our favourite styles from the catwalk that we’ll be trying. From preppy ensembles to sumptuous sheer silhouettes, these are the latest trends that will put a chic spin on all your outfits and keep you looking unshakable this season.

Suited up

Think structured silhouettes and power shoulders. This year was all about suiting with an array of wide-leg trousers, boxy blazers and pleated mini-skirts padding down the catwalk. Designers including Tove and Kent & Curwen led the change with sharp, tailored looks.

Sheer delights

From see-through maxis to sheer trousers and billowing blouses, transparency is back, adding a touch of daring elegance to your wardrobe. Draw inspiration from Natasha Zinko and Erdem’s delicate yet bold springtime dresses. Alternatively, let Aaron Esh’s indie sleaze approach to transparency guide you in layering see-through pieces with confidence.

This season, both London and New York have embraced the college-inspired preppy style, bringing a fresh twist to classic back-to-school dressing. At Mains, pleated skirts and blazers were non-negotiables. Think oversized, big and slouchy rather than pretty, prim and proper. The key to nailing the collegiate-inspired look is by grunging it up.

Fluttering feathers

An unexpected trend this season is the resurgence of feathers, which are fluttering back into fashion and adding a touch of glamour. From feathered accessories to statement pieces, they’re bringing fun and flair to our summer wardrobes.

Burberry boasted a variety of feather-trimmed jackets and 16Arlington’s heavily embellished fluffy separates swooshed and swayed down the catwalk, offering dramatic, main-character moments instead of pared-down ensembles. Playful and opulent, feathers add sartorial plumage that elevates everyday wear and creates incredible party outfits. For inspiration, look no further than Roksanda, who was inspired by harvest time. Flouncing dresses in light straw tones wafted down the catwalk like strands of wheat.

There’s one thing that rarely ever goes out of style, my friend, and that’s denim. An innately versatile and timeless fabric, denim dominates the dress codes of both runways and street style. You can thank designers like Priya Ahluwalia and Masha Popova for putting a fresh spin on this casual classic.

If you’re unsure how to dive into the trend, consider investing in a good pair of denim jeans and a matching dark denim overcoat. It’s an easy way to embrace the trend without feeling overwhelmed.
