Track tops are firmly back on the fashion agenda, and alongside tracksuit bottoms, they’re the sporty 90s style to wear for 2025.
It was only last week we were telling you about the revival of Adidas tracksuit bottoms, and now the second part of the sporty set is joining them: track tops. Much loved throughout the 90s – worn by the likes of Britney Spears and Mel C from the Spice Girls – they’re the sporty jackets that are as comfy as they are cool. And it’s all part of the athleisure trend that’s resulted in hoodies, sweatershirts and jogging bottoms becoming some of our most-loved pieces right now. With winter calling for cosy separates, no one can blame us for opting for items that make us feel comfortable, can they? But this mini-trend will remain key for spring, too, so it’s time to look at tracksuit jackets as more than a comfy throw-on-at-home jacket.
So how do you wear a track top without looking like you’re about to hit a gym class? We’re here to help…

If you want to wear the look as a co-ord, then you absolutely can, but to make it look more elevated and wearable for smarter occasions, make like Gabriella Karefa-Johnson (above) and opt for different colours. Note how the black tracksuit bottoms worn with heels make the bold red track jacket feel more put together. The addition of glossy accessories also helps to make a tracksuit outfit more polished.

If you want to make the track top the centre of attention, zip it up, style it as a top and wear it with unexpected bottoms such as a maxi skirt. We love the look of this bubble hem skirt worn with socks and kitten heels – such a chic way to wear a tracksuit jacket.
Now you’ve seen some easy ways to style them, here are nine our nine favourite track tops that’ll see you through all seasons for 2025.
Shop track tops
Adanola jersey track jacket
Manchester-based brand Adalona is best known for its athleisurewear, so of course there’s new track tops for 2025. This powder blue style would look effortless with baggy jeans and trainers.
Adidas Originals Firebird track top
The Adidas Originals Firebird tracksuit is already a cult item this year, but if you don’t want to go for the full comfy set then shop as seperates. This jacket in soft pink will look just as good with wide-leg trousers for now as it will over a mini dress with ballet pumps for spring.
H&M oversized track top
If you’re not sure about the trend but want to try it out, this under-£40 H&M style is a brilliant option. The half-zip design is so easy to throw on – much as you would your favourite sweater or cosy knit – and we love how it lo0ks with a skirt and knee-high boots.
Motel Niskala jacket
To get the full nostalgic vibe, opt for retro colour combinations. This burgundy and red style is ticking all the right boxes – try wearing it with all your favourite burgundy pieces for a tonal look.
Nike woven jacket
If you want the sporty look without being full on, this Nike version will do the trick. Wear for now over a cosy cashmere jumper or hoodie and add to a linen dress when summer is finally on the horizon.
River Island zip-through side-stripe jacket
Well done River Island for creating a track top and bottoms set that looks so much more expensive than it is. Bringing the fun to any outfit, wear this jacket over an otherwise neutral look to add instant interest. Psst, it’ll also work so well with pink.
Tala woven track jacket
London-born label Tala is a destination for well-fitting leggings (that don’t ride down or dig in), comfy loungewear and jackets. And this is where the track top in classic charcoal comes in – we love the mesh detailing on the sleeves.
Adidas Originals x Wales Bonner hooded jacket
The Wales Bonner x Adidas Originals collections have a habit of selling out, so we expect this will happen to this set, too. Brown is the colour to know for 2025, so you’ll be ticking off two trends in one.
Zara satin stripe jacket
For a nod to the sporty styles, why not try this timeless navy and white look? Elevated by the satin fabric, you could easily wear it done up as a top with a maxi skirt and loafers.
