The best swimwear always sells out first – 8 styles that are bound to go before your summer holiday is booked

While holiday bookings can be left last minute, swimwear shopping can’t be – now is the best time to snap up bikinis and swimsuits before they sell out.
If having a trip booked brings you the same joy that receiving a ‘your online order is on its way’ email, we’re all on the same page. There’s something about the build-up to walking down the aisle (and in this case, we mean the aisle of a plane) that makes us count down the days in a way that some might approach a wedding. If you’re a last-minute booker, though, your excitement could come from the fact you don’t have to wait long until you’re propped up next to the pool, book in hand. No matter which pre-holiday team you’re in, there’s one thing we can all agree on: it’s time to get your swimwear sorted, pronto.
Brands usually start dropping swim as early as February, and now we’ve reached spring, it’s wise to start thinking ahead to the summer holidays. Because as our fashion editors will tell you, the best swimwear always sells out first.

Luckily, not all swimwear has a shelf life: you can rely on brands such as Away That Day and Hunza G to have brilliant swim options all year round. But be warned, the bestsellers from these labels can also gain the dreaded ‘sold out’ sign. And when it comes to new designer edits – hello, Rhode’s first swimwear drop (see above) – you can bet there’ll be a stampede to the checkout.
And don’t even get us started on high street collections. The best styles at the likes of M&S, H&M and & Other Stories tend to sell out of most sizes quickly, and often aren’t restocked. So, with this in mind, put your search for the best brunch spots at your chosen destination on hold for a second; it’s time to focus on our edit of the brilliant swimwear brands we rate and the styles we predict will be most popular this summer.
Away That Day Cannes bikini top
The one piece version of this bikini comes highly approved by fashion editors. Why? Because the fit, feel and look of all Away That Day swimwear is incredible. This dreamy bikini top also comes in seven other colours and the choice of several different bikini bottom styles so you’re bound to find the right one for you.
Marks & Spencer wrap swimsuit
It’s not just any swimsuit, it’s an M&S swimsuit. With some of the best-fitting styles around, the high street hero has swimwear that sells out quickly. Ticking off the leopard print trend, this wrap swimsuit comes in sizes 8-24.
Seafolly Atlantis bustier bandeau bikini top
Who better to know about what works best on the beach than Aussie label Seafolly? The new collection is packed with prints (the Atlantis is a strong favourite), and you can get matching tops, sarongs and trousers to most of the styles. If you’re different sizes for top and bottom, it’s best to go for bikinis you can shop as separates.
H&M+ non-padded bikini top
Selling as quickly as its highly anticipated designer collaboration collections, H&M swimwear always flies off the shelves. This non-padded style comes in bra sizes so you can make sure to get the perfect fit for when you’re in the pool.
Yaitte Mar bespoke sand wave striped swimsuit
One of the lesser-known labels to have on your radar, London-born Yaitte is all about staple pieces made to last. The latest collection of wavy swimwear, co-ords and sarongs made from sustainable materials is a summer must-have. You’ll have to be speedy to get your hands on this one piece. Psst, it also comes in navy or as a bikini.
& Other Stories gathered V-cut swimsuit
Like the LBD, you can never go wrong with a black swimsuit. This one from & Other Stories is the one-piece equivalent to that iconic Princess Diana dress worn in 1994. Race you to the checkout!
Rhode Anja top
Founded in New York and now based in LA, Rhode is the luxury label creating contemporary pieces inspired by vintage prints. Now, on its 10-year anniversary, the label has launched its first swimwear edit. Think high-waisted briefs, a lesson in how to mix prints and cool crochet and you have the collection every fashion person will be wanting to get their hands on this summer. No doubt this stunning daisy set will be the first to go – trust us!
Hunza G Juno metallic seersucker bikini
No swimwear edit is complete without Hunza G: the one-size-fits-most bikinis and swimsuits promises to fit a UK 6-16 – due to its iconic stretchy seersucker material. This metallic knot-detail style from the latest collection will be so sparkly in the sunshine.
