The viral Marks & Spencer brown suede loafers may have sold out (we know when they’re coming back, FYI) but we’ve found the other high street pairs everyone will be wearing this year.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that suede is dominating the fashion world right now. It’s quite literally everywhere – be it a suede jacket, blazer, slouchy tote bag or more recently, suede trainers from the likes of Puma and Adidas. And on the subject of footwear, it turns out it’s not just sneakers that are being transformed by the texture as suede loafers are proving to be the footwear du jour.
Worn by some of the most stylish women on Instagram, the smart shoe may have previously been associated with being men’s wedding guest shoe of choice but they’re no longer reserved just for this. And it’s all thanks to designers including Gucci and Saint Laurent, mainly the latter, with Saint Laurent’s £770 ruched pair already selling out and being pre-order only. Luckily, the high street has created its own iterations, and a certain pair from M&S has been so popular, they’ve sold out. But we have some good news…
With a striking resemblance to said designer style, sales for the £55 chocolate brown pair were up by 600% last week. Subsequently, they sold out and went viral on socials, but we’ve spoken to our friends at M&S and have some good news for you all – they’re getting restocked online and in-stores next week. Want even more good news? They’re also getting restocked in taupe and black colourways, as well as a brand new leopard print pair that’s bound to have the same sell-out effect.
So how do you style suede loafers? We’re here to help.
Stylist Hannah Lewis has worn her brown suede Saint Laurent pair with a tonal outfit. Brown and grey go hand-in-hand, so this is always a chic way to style suede loafers. Creating dimension with textures, Hannah shows how mixing suede with different knit, leather and woven textures keeps the look polished. And we fully approve of the flash of socks with these loafers – especially at this time of year to keep your feet warm!
Fashion influencer and athlete Marilyn Nwawulor-Kazemaks has been spotted wearing her Gucci suede loafer-boot hybrids on repeat. Again, choosing to team with socks, as well as a matching roll neck and this season’s key jeans style: the barrel leg. Denim and suede look so good together, so you can basically wear your suede loafers with your everyday outfits, much how you would style your favourite ankle boots.
Ready to try out suede loafers for 2025? These are the high street pairs that are set to be everywhere from now, through to spring/summer and beyond. But be quick, they’re bound to sell out as fast as that M&S pair!

M&S suede trim loafers
We may have to wait a bit longer for the viral M&S loafers to be back but this pair with gold detailing is proving to be just as popular. We love the tan version, but this bold poppy red style just feels so fun, doesn’t it? Add to your favourite pair of jeans to give them a fresh feel.

The pairs that are giving that could-be-designer look are the ones with a ruched toe. The detail instantly makes them look so premium, and we love how you can see the lighter stitching on this pair.

Classic, sleek and timeless – the Penny loafer is always a key shape to invest in, suede or not. When you’re styling these, opt for white socks, light blue baggy jeans and an oversized knit to create the perfect wear-anywhere look.

If real suede isn’t for you, then there are some brilliant faux styles out there, too. This under-£25 pair from H&M also comes in taupe and black, but this rich chocolate brown is so luxe.
