From Valentino to Awake Mode, studded bags are making a bold statement for autumn. This season, the spotlight is on the return of the hardware handbag.
I can’t stop thinking about studded bags. Heavy hardware, metal and silver chains – sculptural bags with distinctive silhouettes are adding just the right amount of shine this season.
These bags are the accessories you’ve seen on the arms of your favourite influencers and It girls, and now that they’ve been given a stamp of approval on the catwalks – Valentino, GCDS and Awake Mode delighted us with pierced, studded and shredded offerings – it’s safe to say the fashion world is going all in on this anarchic trend.
For ultimate bag-envy, look towards Alaïa’s heart-shaped Le Coeur bag, which has all the metal embellishments you need. Gimaguas’s now sold-out Franca bag, spotted on models like Kaia Gerber, Emily Ratajkowski and Lily-Rose Depp, has become a must-have.
Whenever I wear my studded cross-body bag, I pair it with matching heavily embellished leather ballet flats to channel an off-duty late 90s supermodel look. It’s a punky yet pretty look that I’m obsessed with.
What I love most about studs, as with so many accessory trends, is their ability to instantly elevate any look – no matter how casual. Even a simple slogan T-shirt and jeans receive some instant ‘wow factor’ when partnered with a heavily ornamented bag. Cos’s dramatic eyelet offering or Mango’s show-stopping shoulder bag are just a couple of the must-have pieces available on the high street that will elevate your outfit in seconds.
If you’re looking to raise your wardrobe game with a studded bag, here’s the Stylist edit of the best studded bags to buy now.
