Our childhood pastime is yet again the perfect fashion accessory.
Swanning in and out of fashion as swiftly as a ballerina dances, ballet pumps have a special place in our hearts. And, unsurprisingly, they’re back yet again for another spin around the style sphere.
Spotted on the feet of some of fashion’s most noteworthy muses – Alexa Chung, Kate Moss and Meghan Markle, to name but a few – the soft, supple shoe almost certainly already features in many of our wardrobes. But whether yours are well worn out, looking a little lacklustre or you just simply fancy treating your toes to a new pair, we’ve listed some of our favourite finds below.

Of course, the fashion fans among us may immediately think of Chanel here. For who else can be trusted to create such a beautiful two-tone shoe? Well, the high street is certainly having a go, and new iterations are taking inspiration from the delicate dance-inspired design more than ever before. Think elasticated straps, baby pink hues and pretty little bows sitting at the toes.
Whether paired with jeans and a simple T-shirt for that cool casual look or with work trousers for a more formal fit, they’re sure to see you through any occasion. Keep reading below to see which ones we’re shopping.
M&S leather ballet pumps
Made from 100% responsibly sourced leather, these flats are likely to last a long time. Basic in black, they’ll work for everything from formal fits to laidback looks.
Boden pointed ballet flats
Bringing some coastal grandma chic to the ballet flat trend, this Boden pair is rather beautiful. With a rattan detailed front sat on a sleek suede upper, they already have us thinking of long walks on the beach wearing white linen trousers.
Everlane the Italian leather day ballet flat
Possibly our favourite pick of the bunch, these thin Nappa leather ballet flats work for a whole host of occasions. Soft and supple, they’re built to be comfortable and come in a range of colours too.
& Other Stories slingback leather ballet flats
In a slightly more modern style than your everyday ballet pump, these slingbacks offer a slight stylistic edge. In a creamy colourway, pair with blue denim for a truly striking take on the style.
Guilhermina square-toe ballet flats
Metallic shoes are always having a moment, and these gorgeous golden pumps prove why. Wear them everywhere, from the boardroom to the bar, to add an extra element of glamour.
Shop Guilhermina square-toe ballet flats at Anthropologie, £80
Reformation Buffy ruched ballet flat
Taking the trend quite literally, these pretty pumps look like they’ve been plucked straight out of our childhood ballet bags. Pretty in pink with a ruched upper and soft leather sock-like look, they certainly are sweet.
Hobbs Hattie ballerina
Few shoes scream spring like these vibrant yellow ballerina pumps, and best believe we’ll be stepping into the season with these on our feet.
New Look wide fit suedette cross strap ballerina pumps
Taking the trend quite literally, these faux suede pumps play on the ballerina style to the max. With cross-over elasticated straps and a sweet rounded toe, they may even make us plié.

Kin Harper leather pointed toe ballerina pumps
More like a Mary Jane, these flats are slightly more formal. While the baby blue sets them as a spring-ready style, the shape is all about structure, making them feel more office-friendly.
Shop Kin Harper leather pointed toe ballerina pumps at John Lewis, £55
Porte & Paire bow-embellished satin ballet flats
In a vibrant red, these are more of a standout style. In a silky satin, they lean towards a more formal fit, with a square toe to truly seal the deal.

Pretty Ballerina Rosario
In a feisty leopard print, these shoes prove there’s a wild side to the style. And, who better to shop from than the brand that specialises in the ballet pump?
