Eveningwear is important as the party season grows closer and M&S has focused on understated partywear, with a mixture of tailoring and sparkly separates and some more feminine boho-inspired pieces including a sheer, ruffled olive green maxi dress and a suede fringed jacket.

Tailoring is quite masculine; think oversized boyfriend blazers with broad shoulders and double-pleated wide leg trousers styled with penny loafers. There’s an oversized aqua sparkly jumper that can be worn with a fringed metallic skirt, which nods to the 1980s. There are some butter-soft, leather-look pieces – the sleeveless chocolate brown leather top and matching structured midi skirt is a particular standout, which would look great for evening with a simple sandal or boots.
