As dream collaborations go, what better pairing than Anya Hindmarch and Alexa Chung’s favourite jacket brand Barbour? Stylist caught up with Anya to hear about the four new super-stylish pieces.
What made you want to work with Barbour?
It’s an iconic British brand and part of my childhood. Even just the feel and smell of a Barbour jacket evokes home, family and country weekends traipsing down the beach in Cornwall in the pouring rain. I was always in a Barbour jacket a million sizes too big.
Globally, Anya Hindmarch is now as recognisably British as Barbour. What do the brands have in common?
I think sense of humour and personality are great British traits and I always try and incorporate them in my designs. Both jackets for Barbour have three labelled pockets on the inside; ‘Lipstick’, ‘Coins’ and ‘Dog & Bone’.
You’re originally from London. Are you usually inspired the city?
I’m a true city girl at heart, but that’s why it was so exciting to work with these original designs, playing with cut and fit to make them more feminine and for the city as well as the country.
Anya Hindmarch has created four exclusive designs for Barbour's A/W 2010 collection. For more information go to Anyahindmarch.com.
