Barbour x The Edit by Alexa Chung’s second collection is here, and it includes a selection of excellent coats and jackets, including a playful yellow parka and a reworked men’s bomber jacket from the archives in a silhouette that’s set to become this year’s version of the barn jacket.

The queen of relaxed yet chic dressing, Alexa Chung’s almost-but-not-quite attainable style is one of the most copied aesthetics. The presenter and model has been setting the bar for what to wear at Glastonbury and beyond for the past decade. Your appetite for denim cut-offs and Hunter wellies? Blame Chung. Vinyl trousers and Dr Martens? Thanks, Alexa. The finishing touch to the looks? Naturally, a Barbour jacket. The waxy classic has always been Chung’s go-to, and the latest campaign to celebrate their new collaboration pays tribute to that: the nostalgia of camping with a nod to Alexa’s iconic festival styling.

Drawing inspiration from Chung’s personal experiences and her enduring affection for Barbour, with clear nods to Barbour’s heritage, this collaboration is blending the brand’s classic elements with Chung’s celebrated style.

“Some of my happiest memories have unfolded in a Barbour,” she says. “The smell of the wax alone makes me feel like I’m home. For me, Barbour has been part of my childhood, my coming of age and I am extraordinarily proud that it is now part of my future.”

The second of four collections, this instalment of The Edit by Alexa marries British heritage with contemporary living and is a masterclass in how to stay stylish (and warm) in wet weather with clothing and wellington boots, colourful hooded parkas and raincoats, as well as a wax jacket and a new silhouette: the Anna showerproof jacket, which is a lightweight bomber jacket with elasticated hem, cord collar and full tartan lining.

Nicola Brown, head of womenswear design at Barbour, said: “Alexa loves going back to the men’s archive jackets. She loves bigger, oversized silhouettes. That’s her style. With her collections, we see more of the menswear silhouettes coming through than we would in our mainline women’s collection. The bomber is based on the classic Barbour Spay jacket, but then we played with the elastic waistband, and it just looked so good. It feels very her.”

Chung adds: “My particular favourites in the collection are the bright yellow jacket and fire engine red raincoat. I really focused on colour and fun, and this collection brings me so much joy. I hope you like it as much as I do.”
