Tracker: the most-watched US drama series in almost a decade is finally coming to the UK

Tracker has enjoyed such phenomenal success that it’s already been renewed for a second season – so, what’s it all about?
It’s always tough deciding what to watch on TV, especially as there’s just so many things to choose from. That’s why a show tends to shoot its way to the top of our must-watchlist if it has already proven itself to be something of a resounding success overseas.
Tracker, which has been crowned the most-watched new series on US broadcast TV in six years and the most-watched new drama series in nine years, definitely fits the bill.
Watch the trailer for Tracker below:
Yes, it’s another tale of a nomadic hero. Yes, it’s giving us Jack Reacher vibes. And yes, Selling Sunset fans: that is Justin Hartley.
Intrigued? Here’s what you need to know.
What is Tracker about?
Based on the bestselling novel The Never Game by Jeffery Deaver, Tracker tells the story of Colter Shaw, a “a lone-wolf survivalist who roams the country as a reward seeker, using his expert tracking skills to help private citizens and law enforcement solve all manner of mysteries while contending with his own fractured family”.
So, he’s a bounty hunter. And, in typical procedural drama fashion, this means we get a “mystery of the week” with each episode – as our troubled lead struggles to make sense of his traumatic past (while whipping his shirt off at every opportunity and showing off his comprehensive mastery of survival percentages, of course).
Who stars in Tracker?
This Is Us star Justin Hartley, as mentioned already, takes the lead in this one as our eponymous tracker.

He’s joined by Abby McEnany and Robin Weigert as Velma and Teddi Bruin, Eric Graise as Bobby Exley, and Fiona Rene as attorney/love interest Reenie Greene.
What are people saying about Tracker?
With an 88% ‘fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it seems Tracker has gone down an absolute treat with fans of the genre.
Admitting that he fell in love with his character, Hartley tells The Hollywood Reporter: “What an amazing idea of a life, where you live in an Airstream, you’re self-sustaining, go wherever you want to go and help people. You’re not an antihero, you’re just a good guy, a good man.”
He adds: “I guess it made me think about how rare that is. I remember sitting there thinking he’s just a good guy. Colter Shaw is not agenda-driven, necessarily. He’s a businessman. He takes the money, that’s how he makes his living. He’s not politically driven. He’s driven by doing the right thing… [and] he is not a superhero; he’s living a very dangerous life. If he gets shot, he bleeds, he will die.
“I think it’s a throwback series, sort of like The Rockford Files. We just don’t have that anymore and I get nostalgic about that kind of television.”
When and where can we watch Tracker?
The first episode of Tracker will be released on Disney+ in the United Kingdom and Ireland on Wednesday 3 April 2024, and new episodes will be released weekly.
