Netflix’s Too Much follows an unlikely connection between workaholic and heartbroken Jessica and slightly chaotic Felix.

From Rye Lane to Love At First Sight, we’ve been treated to a few new romcoms this year and we couldn’t be happier. And now, Netflix has even more good news for lovers of romance. The streaming platform is working with writer, actor and director Lena Dunham on a new romcom series, Too Much.

The series is an “ex-pat rom-com for the disillusioned who wonder if true love is still possible, but sincerely hope that it is.” Want to know more? Here’s everything we know so far about Dunham’s new Netflix series.

What is the plot of Too Much?

The series follows Jessica, a New York workaholic in her mid-thirties who’s trying to come to terms with a recent breakup. The solution? Starting over by taking a new job in London. But then she meets Felix – “who is less Hugh Grant in Notting Hill and more Hugh Grant’s drunken roommate.” Jessica finds their connection impossible to ignore, however. “Now they have to ask themselves: do Americans and Brits actually speak the same language?” says the official synopsis.

Who will star in Too Much?

Megan Stalter (Hacks) will play the lead role of Jessica and Will Sharpe (The White Lotus) will play Felix.

The 10-part series is created by Dunham and husband Luis Felber. Too Much will be produced by Working Title Television, which is part of Universal International Studios (Love Actually), and Dunham’s Good Thing Going. The series will also feature original music from Felber.

On the series, Dunham said: “This is a show that is very close to my heart – created with my husband Luis, cast with my favourite actors – the geniuses that are Meg and Will, along with a bevy of friends – and partnering again with Working Title, who are behind the romantic comedies that formed me. Netflix has been so deeply supportive of the vision, which is to create a romantic comedy that makes us root for love, brings joy but also has the jagged edges of life.”

When will Too Much be released?

Production on the series is due to begin in the UK in 2024, so we have quite a while to wait before the series drops on Netflix.
