In the market for a new thriller? Passenger, starring Wunmi Mosaku, sounds like it’ll fit the bill perfectly.
Once temperatures drop and skies darken, all we want to do is curl up indoors and watch something that keeps us firmly glued to our sofas. Passenger, ITVX’s brand new comic thriller out later this year, sounds like just the ticket.
The show will debut later this March, but we’ve got a brand new trailer to tide you over until then. Plus, we’ve broken down the plot, the cast, and all the hype, ahead, so you’ve got something to tide you over until the premiere.
Here’s everything you need to know about Passenger, including a new trailer.
What is Passenger about?
Then, one night a local girl called Katie Wells (Rowan Robinson) disappears. Weird. What’s weirder is that the next day she reappears, seemingly totally fine. The inhabitants of the town remain unbothered, but Detective Riya thinks the whole thing is a bit… odd.
From there, a “series of strange happenings and increasingly shocking crimes” begins to unfold. The townspeople blame outside influences, such as the fracking site and its manager, Jim Bracknell (David Threlfall), but Riya is insistent that something else is going on, a view that gets a lot of the locals riled up. Sounds mysterious, right?

What are people saying about Passenger?
The press release for Passenger describes the show as a “darkly comic thriller”, which sounds right up our street, while the executive producers say it’s “twisted” and “horrifying”.
The series creator, writer and associate producer Andy Buchan said: “I’ve always loved shows where the known collides with the unknown… where you see communities faced with something horrifying and inexplicable, where, as a viewer, you’ve nothing in your kit-bag to explain it. When I started writing the scripts, I wanted to create something epic and unknown but also bed it somewhere close to home. Having grown up in Lancashire it felt like the perfect place for it. We’ll definitely see the residents of Chadder Vale pushed to their limits.”
