One of Netflix’s most popular shows is coming to an end this summer. Here’s what you need to know about The Umbrella Academy’s fourth and final season.

Are you ready for one last Hargreeves adventure? Because The Umbrella Academy – which, in case you need a recap, follows a group of estranged siblings with superpowers who are reunited after the death of their father – is going the way of so many Netflix shows and coming to an end this August.

Their mission? To stop the world ending, of course (this is a superhero show, after all). That’s going to be difficult, though, after the explosive events of the third season saw their timeline completely reset and their powers stripped away.

Watch the trailer for The Umbrella Academy’s fourth season below.

Explosive stuff. Here’s what you need to know about the fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy

What is The Umbrella Academy season 4 about?

Picking up after that climactic showdown at the Hotel Oblivion, the fourth season will see the Hargreeveses “fend for themselves and find a new normal with wildly varying degrees of success”, promises the official synopsis.

“Yet the trappings of their uncanny new world prove too hard to ignore for very long. Their father, Reginald, alive and well, has stepped out of the shadows and into the public eye, overseeing a powerful and nefarious business empire.

“[Meanwhile], a mysterious association known as The Keepers holds clandestine meetings believing the reality they’re living in is a lie and a great reckoning is coming.”

Who stars in The Umbrella Academy season 4?

The Umbrella Academy’s fourth season stars Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya and Colm Feore.

The always hilarious Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally and David Cross also join the final season.

What are people saying about The Umbrella Academy season 4?

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Steve Blackman explains that the big finale will include some of the show’s most intense scenes to date.

“The first place I started with season four was: what happens if you were once a superhero and then suddenly you’re not? What does that do to you?” he says.

“Not only as an individual, but what is the family dynamic when suddenly they find themselves normal? I think it’s a challenge for all of them.”

Blackman finishes: “What might’ve brought them together initially is the fact that, as a dysfunctional family, they found some connection in their abilities. With those superpowers stripped away, who are they as a family?”

When can we watch The Umbrella Academy season 4?
