The Regime tells the story of one year within the walls of a modern authoritarian regime as it begins to unravel, with Kate Winslet starring as The Chancellor.
We may be used to seeing Kate Winslet on the big screen but recently the actor has taken on several TV projects that have seen her scoop up awards, especially for her role in Mare Of Easttown. Now, she’s back on the small screen once again with a new series, The Regime.
If the premise of this series sounds slightly familiar, it’s because the show has had a name change over the past year or so. When the series was initially announced, the project was titled The Palace, however, it’s now titled The Regime instead.
Sounds intriguing, right? So, here’s everything we know so far about The Regime, including first look images and a teaser trailer for the upcoming drama.
What is the plot of The Regime?
The six-episode series tells the story of one year within the walls of the palace of a modern European authoritarian regime as it begins to unravel.
In the recently released trailer, we see Winslet’s character say, “since I became your Chancellor, we have grown considerably as a country. It is time to show America and the world precisely what we are worth.” So, it’s safe to assume that Winslet will be playing the regime’s leader (“The Chancellor”) as she navigates the world of geopolitics – desperate to maintain control.

When will The Regime be released?
All six episodes will debut on Sky and streaming service NOW from 8 April in the UK. In the meantime, check out the trailer for The Regime below.
