Jenna Coleman is a rookie detective who attempts to investigate a missing persons cold case in BBC’s The Jetty.

After plotting and embracing revenge in Wilderness, Jenna Coleman is looking to sharpen her detective skills for the BBC’s upcoming crime thriller The Jetty

Written and created by Cat Jones and produced by Firebird Pictures, the four-part mystery examines sexual morality, age of consent, grooming, identity and memory through Coleman’s character, a woman attempting to investigate a missing persons cold case and coming up against a whole host of challenges.

And so, here’s everything to know so far about The Jetty, including when we might expect the series to land on our screens.

What is the plot of The Jetty?

According to the BBC synopsis, when a fire tears through a property in a scenic Lancashire lake town, Detective Ember Manning (Coleman) must work out how it connects to a podcast journalist investigating a missing persons cold case and an illicit ‘love’ triangle between a man in his twenties and two underage girls.

But as Ember gets close to the truth, it threatens to destroy her life – forcing her to re-evaluate everything she thought she knew about her past, present and the town she’s always called home.

As much a coming-of-age story as a detective thriller, The Jetty asks big questions about sexual morality, identity and memory, in the places that the Me Too movement has left behind.

“Working with BBC and Firebird Pictures on bringing the complex and enigmatic character of Ember Manning to life has been an incredible experience. I can’t wait for everyone to meet this new heroine and to find out what’s lurking beneath the surface of The Jetty,” Coleman has said of the new series.
