Can’t wait to watch Emma Stone in Poor Things? We’ve got you covered.
We’ve already got Emma Stone in Poor Things to look forward to in the coming months. But if you can’t quite wait until January 2024 (same), then the actor is starring in another dark comedy coming to screens next month – and it’s already been billed as one of the weirdest shows of the year.
Paramount+’s The Curse will see Stone embrace her comedic side once again: the series is a satirical take on the typical ‘American Dream’ and has been described as “genre-bending”. And with Nathan Fielder (Nathan For You, The Rehearsal) and Benny Safdie (the director of Uncut Gems) behind it, we can definitely expect all things bizarre.
Here’s everything to know so far about The Curse, including where and when you can watch the series.
What is the plot of The Curse?
Stone and Fielder star as Asher and Whitney Siegel, a husband-and-wife duo who land their own house-flipping series as hosts of Flipanthropy, a show on US channel HGTV.
It may sound a little strange, but The Curse is billed as a comedy satire series that follows the Siegels as a supposed curse makes their relationship and lives together that much harder. On top of dealing with the curse and hosting Flipanthropy, the couple is also attempting to have a baby.
In the trailer, we see the Siegels in Espanola, New Mexico, filming clips for their new TV show. Fielder’s character hands money to a little girl, which he tries to snatch back after the cameras stop rolling – prompting her to curse him. And of course, all hell breaks loose after that.
Who will star in The Curse?
Alongside Stone and Fielder in the lead roles, Safdie co-stars as Dougie, the producer of Flipanthropy. Barkhad Abdi, Corbin Bernsen and Constance Shulman are also set to appear in the series.
When will The Curse be released in the UK?
Produced by A24, the 10-episode series will premiere on 10 November on Paramount+. You can watch the trailer below.
