One of TV’s funniest and most twisted shows, Taskmaster has long been a favourite in many a household – not least because its surreal challenges have caused many a contestant to go into meltdown mode (everyone remembers Joe Wilkinson and the potato, right?).

It stands to reason, then, that fans have longed to go behind the scenes of their favourite show for quite some time. Now, at long last, they’ll be able to do just that, thanks to upcoming spin-off series Taskmasterclass.

That’s right: Greg Davies and Alex Horne are set to lift the lid on the “best, worst and somewhat middling tasks” from Taskmaster, interviewing former contestants (including Ed Gamble and Jo Brand) about their time on the programme. Davies and Horne will also pay homage to the brains behind the tasks themselves, all while attempting to answer fans’ most burning questions.

Kicking off the week after season 17 of the OG series concludes, the spin-off will fill the Taskmaster-shaped hole in our TV schedules. And the first hour-long episode will see Davies and Horne discuss “whether there is any point to the seemingly pointless tasks” – which means, yes, it’ll treat us to a trip down memory lane with some pointed archival footage.

It’s the perfect way to fill the hours until the 18th season of Taskmaster, which has already been filmed (although details are being kept firmly under wraps until later this summer). Bring it on.
