Rhod Gilbert, Davina McCall, Adam Hills, Joe Lycett and Munya Chawawa take the lead in Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer.
Can you believe it’s been 10 years?
Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer is back on Friday 3 November with a special celebration, because, yes, it has been an overwhelming decade of standing up to cancer. So, what better way to mark the occasion than with a star-studded night of fantastic TV?
Coming to you live from The Francis Crick Institute, a renowned hub for pioneering cancer research, Davina McCall, Adam Hills, Joe Lycett and Munya Chawawa will kick off proceedings with SU2C: The Takeover. This 90-minute live show will be “jam-packed with hilarious comedy talent and famous faces, including Rita Ora, Oti Mabuse, Cush Jumbo, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Charlotte Ritchie and many more, all standing together to celebrate the staggering breakthroughs and progress in cancer research that has been made possible by money raised through Stand Up To Cancer in the last 10 years,” promises the official synopsis.
As if that weren’t enough for you, Channel 4 has also promised us an all-new episode of Celebrity Gogglebox, not to mention the finale of Don’t Look Down (you know, the one with Paddy McGuinness and his team of celebs attempting a world-first relay highwire walk over the London Stadium. That one).
Then, we have The SU2C Comedy Roast, which is… well, it’s exactly what it sounds like, to be honest. Think Rhod Gilbert presiding over the likes of Jordan Gray, Ellie Taylor, Danny Beard, Tom Stade, Davina McCall, Joe Lycett, Nish Kumar, Sara Barron, Thanyia Moore, Bobby Mair, Harriet Kemsley, Fatiha El-Ghorri and Larry Dean as comedic chaos ensues.
And, because it wouldn’t be a Stand Up To Cancer episode without a thousand reasons to cry, the whole thing will culminate with Sean Lock: Lockipedia – which, the synopsis promises, will serve as a “reminder of the much-missed comedy genius of one of Channel 4’s best-known comics”.
Basically, don’t bother making plans from 7pm onwards on Friday 3 November: you’ll want to be parked in front of the telly, Channel 4 on the screen, a box of tissues to hand, and a few sticking plasters for the inevitable split sides to come.
We’ll see you on the couch!
