A Murder At The End Of The World: Emma Corrin turns amateur sleuth in Disney+’s whodunnit

3 min read

Emma Corrin has joined forces with The OA’s Brit Marling for A Murder At The End Of The World, an exciting new whodunnit TV series that promises to deliver murder, mayhem and mystery in abundance.

Emma Corrin was, without a doubt, the shining star of The Crown’s fourth season, stealing everyone’s hearts with their emotionally charged portrayal of Princess Diana.

Since then, the talented actor’s career has gone from strength to strength, thanks to roles in Netflix’s adaptation of Lady Chatterley’s Lover and queer romance My Policeman, as well as a handful of acclaimed West End plays, including Anna X, a tale loosely inspired by the story of ‘fake heiress’ Anna Delvey, and Orlando, based on Virginia Woolf’s classic novel.

Next, though, Corrin will be returning to the small screen for a show that couldn’t be further from The Crown, but it sounds seriously intriguing all the same.

The star has teamed up with Brit Marling (the creator of Netflix’s dizzyingly creative drama The OA) to appear in A Murder At The End Of The World.

OK, so we’re sold. Here’s what you need to know…

What is the plot of A Murder At The End Of The World?

Tapping into our newfound obsession with dark happenings at luxury resorts (see Nine Perfect Strangers and The White Lotus), A Murder At The End Of The World promises to be a “radical conceptualisation of the classic whodunnit”, according to a Deadline.

According to the show’s synopsis, amateur sleuth and hacker Darby Hart (Corrin) is invited to attend a retreat “at a remote and dazzling location”, hosted by a reclusive billionaire, alongside eight other guests.

“When one of the other guests is found dead, Darby must use all of her skills to prove it was murder against a tide of competing interests and before the killer takes another life,” the synopsis continues.

Who stars in A Murder At The End Of The World?

Corrin will be joined by Clive Owen, who takes the role of the aforementioned mysterious billionaire, plus the multi-talented Marling (who has written, produced and directed the show alongside The OA’s Zal Batmanglij) is set to play a key role in the mystery, too.

Triangle Of Sadness star Harris Dickinson also appears in the cast, along with the likes of Coming 2 America’s Jermaine Fowler, Dopesick’s Raúl Esparza and We Are Who We Are’s Alice Braga.

What are people saying about A Murder At The End Of The World?

During FX’s executive session at the virtual summer TCA press tour back in 2021, FX Networks chairman John Landgraf provided more details about the project, revealing that it “has a pretty good chunk of it set in an ultra-luxury hotel adjacent to a glacier in a very forbidding northern place.

“It also has a very substantial chunk that takes place in the desert and various other locals.”

“We absolutely loved what Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij came to us with, which is radical reconceptualisation of whodunit with a really, really original set of characters, particularly a really strong and original young woman at the centre of the story whose back story and present-day story form a strong emotional core,” Landgraf said, according to Deadline.

“There obviously is a mystery unfolding, too. It’s a distinctive and unique show that is not that easy to produce.”

When and where can we watch A Murder At The End Of The World?
