Set in Palm Beach during the 1960s, the new series is packed with sun, glamour and a whole lot of secrets…

With hit shows such as The White Lotus and Succession highlighting issues surrounding wealth and class (and making great television in the process), there’s a growing appetite for TV that takes us into the world of the mega-rich. Emerald Fennell’s latest film, Saltburn, also attempted to delve into these themes using Barry Keoghan’s Oliver as the lens of ‘the outsider’.

And now, Apple TV+ has shared details of its latest offering in this genre, Palm Royale. Set during the 1960s in Palm Beach, the series is packed with sun, glamour and a whole lot of secrets. So, here’s everything to know so far about Palm Royale.

What is the plot of Palm Royale?

Loosely based on Juliet McDaniel’s 2018 novel Mr. And Mrs. American Pie, the series follows Maxine Simmons as she sets her sights on breaking into Palm Beach high society. Set during the powder keg year of 1969, Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, fighting for a chance to truly belong.

Palm Royale asks the same question that still baffles us today: “How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has?”
