It is a truth universally acknowledged that Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You is one of the best Christmas songs out there (and certainly one of the most instantly recognised)… and it has been for the past three decades.

That’s right; the Christmas song to end all Christmas songs turns 30 this year, and the Queen of Christmas is celebrating in style. And what better way to kick off the festivities than by sitting down for a good old chinwag with Rylan Clark?

“Filmed on location in Los Angeles, the multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning artist Mariah Carey meets Rylan for the first time,” promises the official synopsis for BBC Two’s Mariah Meets Rylan.

During the special, Carey will reflect on anything and everything, including life before she was famous, the creative process behind her smash hit Hero, her musical inspirations, how she became synonymous with the holiday season, Top Of The Pops and, well… EastEnders. Obviously.

“All my Christmases came at once this year when I got to sit down and interview none other than the Queen of Christmas,” raves Clark of the special, which follows hot on the heels of the successful Cher Meets Rylan.

“They say don’t meet your heroes, but Mariah was everything and more. I can’t wait for you all to see it.”

If that doesn’t feel like enough of a celebration for you, don’t despair, as BBC Two will continue to pay homage to Carey with an evening of programming that night, including a newly extended edition of Mariah Carey At The BBC. Best get the mince pies in, stat…
