The new series tells the story of writer Truman Capote, who immersed himself in the high society of 1970s New York and, in particular, among a rich group of socialites nicknamed the Swans.

Back for his second instalment of the Feud anthology series, Ryan Murphy is going back to the 1970s to bring us old Hollywood glamour, iconic fashion and a whole lot of scandal.

In 2017, Murphy released the first series, Feud: Bette And Joan, which charted the deep rivalry between Hollywood actors Bette Davis (played by Susan Sarandon) and Joan Crawford (played by Jessica Lange). For the second season, Murphy is turning his sights to renowned writer Truman Capote.

So, here’s everything to know about the upcoming second series, including a newly released trailer to watch ahead of its release next month.

What is the plot of Feud: Capote v The Swans?

The new series – which is based on Laurence Leamer’s bestselling 2021 book Capote’s Women: A True Story Of Love, Betrayal, And A Swan Song For An Era – tells the story of writer Truman Capote who surrounded himself with 1970s New York society, and in particular, a set of rich socialites nicknamed the Swans.

The famous feud all kicked off following the release of his crime novel In Cold Blood, when the writer was propelled into success and fame, becoming one of America’s most well-known writers at the time. He began to socialise with the Swans, befriending them and being trusted with the inner workings of their lives, until he betrayed them by publishing their secrets in Esquire. Secrets that included affairs and details about one Swan who had shot her husband.

Capote’s relationship with the Swans was destroyed during this feud and he even ended up being banished from the high society he craved. A celebrity betrayal like no other.
