Colin From Accounts has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes for a reason, everyone – and the second season is getting its UK premiere at last.

From High Country to Bluey, there’s no denying that Australia is enjoying a golden age of television at the moment – and no series sums this up better than Colin From Accounts.

Set in Sydney, it’s billed as a modern-day romantic comedy about two single people, Ashley and Gordon, who are brought together by a car accident and an injured dog. Better still? Created and written by husband-and-wife team Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer, who also star as the show’s main characters, it’s one of those romcoms that feels… well, more than just relatable; it’s incredibly authentic, too.

Unsurprisingly, the series proved to be one of the biggest breakout shows of 2023, with five-star reviews and an average audience of 2.2 million – which means a lot of people have been anxiously counting down the days until the second season drops.

Thankfully, that moment is finally upon us. Here’s what you need to know:

What is Colin From Accounts S2 about?

Fans of the series will undoubtedly remember that the first season ended with Ash and Gordon giving their beloved dog, Colin, away to new owners – a decision they quickly came to regret with every fibre of their being.

Thankfully, the second season picks up exactly where we all need it to. Our dynamic duo is a) officially living together, and b) desperately trying to get Colin back. Which means, yes, it is once again all about “flawed, funny people choosing each other and being brave enough to show their true self, scars and all, as they navigate life together”, as per the official synopsis.

Who stars in Colin From Accounts S2?

As mentioned already, Brammall and Dyer will be reprising their roles as Ash and Gordon

They will be joined by a whole host of familiar faces, including Emma Harvie, Genevieve Hegney, Michael Logo, Helen Thomson, Darren Gilshenan, Annie Maynard, Tai Hara and Glenn Hazeldine.

There are also a few newbies to the cast, such as:

  • Celeste Barber
  • Virginia Gay
  • Justin Rosniak
  • John Howard
  • Lynne Porteus
  • Broden Kelly

Zak and Buster Feddersen, the two border terriers who play Colin, will also be back. Obviously.

What are people saying about Colin From Accounts S2?

Sue Deeks, head of programme acquisition, says: “BBC viewers have been completely charmed by this award-winning romantic comedy, and have taken Ashley, Gordon and unlikely cupid Colin to their hearts. We are so delighted that there is going to be another series of the totally engaging Colin From Accounts for us all to enjoy.”

Elsewhere, in an interview with Man Of ManyDyer and Brammall explained why they prefer to call the series a relationship comedy than a romcom.

“Even though part of our pitch was like, oh, Australia’s never done a romcom, we never really set out to hit the tropes of a romcom. It was just like, what’s funny? What feels real? And as actors, what do we want to do? It’s fun. Let’s enjoy it because it’s ours,” says Brammall.

“I think we just want to see more real people on TV, less people that are so kind of shiny and perfect,” adds Dyer.

When can we watch Colin From Accounts S2?

The second season, made up of eight episodes, will air its first episode at 10pm on Tuesday 3 September on BBC Two.

The entire box set will also be available to stream on iPlayer, for those who prefer to binge.
