Make the Yellowjackets waiting game a little easier with the help of these thrilling shows.
The wait is almost over. After months and months spent speculating over that mind-blowing finale, we’re just days away from getting our hands on the first episode of Yellowjackets season two.
The episode, titled Friends, Romans, Countrymen, will land on Paramount+ on 24 March, with the rest of the season airing weekly on Fridays.
In preparation, you might consider rewatching the show’s first season to refresh your memory. But if you’re in the mood for something new, there are plenty of brilliant survival dramas out there to keep you busy until the end of the week.
Intrigued? To get you started, here are three stand-out survival dramas worth watching while you wait for Yellowjackets season two to hit screens. Prepare for plenty of edge-of-your-seat moments.
Keep Breathing
This Netflix thriller follows the story of Liv Rivera (played by In The Heights’s Melissa Barrera), a New York lawyer who finds herself stranded when the small private plane she’s travelling in crashes in the middle of the Canadian wilderness.
As the lone survivor, she’s left to fight the elements to survive. But along the way, she also has to tackle her personal demons – including the self-critical, demeaning inner voice that emerged as the result of her childhood trauma.
Dark, thrilling and emotional all at once, there’s a reason why Keep Breathing shot to the top of the Netflix charts when it was first released.
The Wilds
If you’re looking for a series that feels similar to Yellowjackets, look no further than The Wilds – an Amazon Prime original which follows a group of teen girls who are forced to fight for survival after their plane crash lands on a deserted island.
With two seasons in total, the show follows the group as they navigate life on the island, forging and breaking relationships as they learn more about each other. There’s only one thing: the girls did not end up on the island by accident.
The Stranded
The Stranded is Netflix’s first Thai original series – but that’s just one of the factors which make it such a great watch.
It follows a group of students from an elite school, who are left trapped on an island after an unexpected and devastating tsunami hits.
Left to their own devices, the group struggles to keep things together – but it seems as if mysterious forces may be working against them. Before long, they realise that no one is coming to save them. And that if they want to survive, they’ll need to save themselves.
