**What is King And Conqueror about?**

King And Conqueror follows the real-life story of Harold of Wessex and William of Normandy, whose armies fought at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. While we all remember learning about this famous battle at school, this show promises to look at the personal story that led to the conflict

It is, as the BBC describes it, “the story of a clash that defined the future of a country – and a continent – for a thousand years, the roots of which stretch back decades and extend out through a pair of interconnected family dynasties struggling for power across two countries and a raging sea”.

The show will delve into how Harold and William were allies who “found themselves forced by circumstance and personal obsession into a war for possession of its crown”.

Written by Michael Robert Johnson (Sherlock Holmes, The Frankenstein Chronicles) the series will be split into eight hour-long episodes.

Lindsey Martin, the SVP for international co-productions and development at CBS Studios, says: “Michael’s scripts offer a bold and fresh take on a story that has endured for nearly 1,000 years, and yet, the themes are as contemporary and relevant as ever.”
