The Apple TV+ series is based on the forthcoming book of the same name by Rufi Thorpe, which is set to be released in the US in June. Here’s everything we know so far about Margo’s Got Money Troubles.
While we were sad to say goodbye to Elle Fanning last summer in the comedy satire The Great, there is a silver lining: as one project ends, another is bound to begin. And that’s exactly the case with Fanning, who has recently been cast as the lead in Apple TV+’s upcoming eight-part series Margo’s Got Money Troubles.
The series is based on the forthcoming book of the same name by Rufi Thorpe, which is set to be released in the US in June (and the UK in July). The novel may not be published yet but we do know some details. So, here’s everything to know so far about Margo’s Got Money Troubles.
What is the plot of Margo’s Got Money Troubles?
The child of a waitress and ex-pro wrestler, Margo Millet has always been aware that she’d need to make it on her own. Putting herself first, she enrols at her local college, where she ends up having an affair with her professor. While the affair is brief, Margo falls pregnant and decides to keep the baby.
Fast forward a few years and Margo is now 20 – alone with a child, unemployed and about to be evicted from her home. She needs money and needs it fast, especially when her estranged father, Jinx, shows up at her door and asks to move in with her. But this inspires Margo to form a plan to get some much-needed cash: she sets up an OnlyFans account and finds herself adapting some of her dad’s wrestling advice into her online persona. Her experiment works, and her platform becomes hugely successful. But does this success and fame come at a price?
Who will star in Margo’s Got Money Troubles?
Elle Fanning will play Margo Millet and Nicole Kidman will also star in an unknown role so far. No further casting details have been announced.
Produced by A24, Fanning and Kidman will both executive produce the series, alongside David E Kelley and Dakota Fanning.
When will Margo’s Got Money Troubles be released?
As the eight-part series has only just been announced, there is no confirmed release date as of yet. It’s definitely one to watch out for, though, so check back for further updates.
