What is Alma’s Not Normal season 2 about?

Alma Nuthall isn’t having the best time of it. Her new talent agent isn’t quite who they said they were, and her new acting role is… well, it’s completely and utterly demoralising. She’s struggling, too, to pay off the debt on her new car, and her family of eccentric, unruly women aren’t having much more luck than she is.

Speaking about her show’s second season, Willan says: “This series Alma faces a new set of challenges that change Alma forever. There is a loss of innocence; a sort of coming of age and finding her own voice – both as a person and a creative.”

Adding that there’s far more rage simmering under the surface of the comedy series this time around, she notes: “I wanted to take the state to task and show how people’s lives have genuinely been affected for the worst by the detrimental cuts to social care services. I wanted to show how this cycle along with the housing crisis has criminalised and institutionalised vulnerable people and particularly, I wanted to show the impact on vulnerable women.”
