Finally, we have a trailer for BBC Three thriller A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder ahead of its July release. Based on Holly Jackson’s bestselling novel of the same name, here’s everything you need to know.

There’s something about a good murder mystery that just never grows old. It’s the classic kind of sofa-side sleuthing we love to engage in, and shows like Only Murders In The Building and The White Lotus just add to our love of the genre. So when we heard back in 2022 that the BBC was bringing us a TV adaptation of Holly Jackson’s bestselling novel A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder, it would be an understatement to say we were stoked.

Finally, we have a trailer for the series ahead of its scheduled release this July. Commissioned by the BBC in co-production with ZDFneo and Netflix, cancel your summer plans – you’re going to want to stay home for this one.

Here’s everything we’ve learned from the (excellent) trailer, and keep scrolling to watch it for yourself.

What is the plot of A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder

The trailer gives us our first look at Emma Myers (Wednesday) in action as plucky protagonist Pip.

The series has been described as a “compulsive teen crime thriller”, but if shows like Red Rose and Euphoria have taught us anything, it’s that a show with teenage leads doesn’t mean it’s any less terrifying.

In the six-part series, we’re faced with a murder that initially seems like an open-and-shut case, but in reality, it’s anything but.

According to the synopisis: “Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh. Case closed. The police know he did it, everyone in town knows he did it. But smart and single-minded Pip Fitz-Amobi isn’t so sure, and she’s determined to prove it.

If Sal Singh isn’t a murderer and the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth? As she digs into the past and uncovers more secrets and lies, she finds herself drawn into the dark underside of Little Kilton.”

Who will star in A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder

Filmed in and around the pretty English county of Somerset, we now know that joining Myers is a star-studded cast including Anna Maxwell Martin (Motherland), Gary Beadle (Rye Lane), Mathew Baynton (Ghosts) and newcomer Zain Iqbal.

Adapted by Poppy Cogan, directed by Dolly Wells and produced by Florence Walker, the series is being made by Moonage Pictures, who many may recognise as the team behind The Pursuit Of Love with Andrew Scott, Lily James and Dominic West, as well as the smash hit Guy Ritchie series The Gentlemen

What has been said about A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder

Speaking about her novel being adapted for the BBC, Holly Jackson previously said: “I am beyond thrilled that A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder has found its perfect home with Moonage Pictures and the BBC.

“It is a privilege to be working alongside such a talented and creative team who are as invested in the characters and story as I am. I can’t wait to introduce Pip and Ravi to a whole new audience, and to welcome back readers who have missed our partners in crime.”

Poppy Cogan also said of the upcoming series: “I’m so honoured that Holly Jackson has entrusted me with the adaptation of her hugely popular and brilliant novel. With a relentlessly twisty plot and a cast of funny and idiosyncratic characters, A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder will take audiences on a thrilling ride into the dark heart of a quintessentially English town.”

Fiona Campbell, controller of BBC Three, also commented: “Holly Jackson’s A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder is inventive, smart, gripping – and absolutely perfect for the screen. It’s with real delight that we’re teaming with Holly, Poppy Cogan and the Moonage Pictures team to bring this remarkable series to BBC Three.”

When and where will A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder be available to watch?

Summer set to be a wash out? No worries – all episodes will be available on BBC iPlayer from Monday 1 July, and the series will air on BBC Three later that month. We can’t wait.
