If there’s a romantic book adaptation-shaped hole in your life (it’s been way too long since we couldn’t stop crying at One Day), we bring very good news. The cast has been announced for Netflix’s upcoming film, People We Meet On Vacation, a slow-burn love story we’re all about to fall for.

Adapted from Emily Henry’s wildly popular novel of the same name, this romcom follows unlikely best friends Poppy (Emily Bader) and Alex (Tom Blyth), who reunite every summer for a week-long holiday. It’s ideal for those who prefer romantic stories to thrillers – or, for that matter, anyone who likes a bit of both.

What is the plot of People We Meet On Vacation?

Although they’ve been best friends for a decade, adventurous, free-spirited Poppy and introverted, routine-loving Alex are polar opposites. They live in different cities but every year, they spend a week on holiday together – until one trip goes disastrously wrong. But when they decide to take one last holiday together to Palm Springs, they begin to question whether they might be more than just good friends.

Who stars in People We Meet On Vacation?

Netflix has just announced the cast of People We Meet On Vacation, including Bader (who you might recognise from historical fantasy series My Lady Jane) as Poppy and Blyth (who was in The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes) as Alex. Other notable names joining the cast are Jameela Jamil, alongside Emily in Paris heartthrob Lucien Laviscount and Sarah Catherine Hook, who is in the upcoming third series of The White Lotus.

We can’t wait to see the characters come to life on screen, especially the couple at its centre – and author Emily Henry is right there with us. “I watched their chemistry read four times in 12 hours and I loved it more every single time,” she told Netflix. “The very first time I was laughing out loud, and I got so emotional by the end.”
