After Taylor Swift made history at the Grammy Awards, she used her acceptance speech for the best album award to announce her latest project: The Tortured Poets Department.

Swifties, stop everything. While we may have been waiting patiently for Reputation (Taylor’s Version) to finally be announced, Taylor Swift has only gone and gifted us something equally exciting: a brand new album.

The singer revealed the existence of a new album while accepting her 13th Grammy for best pop vocal album for her previous album, Midnights.

“I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I have been keeping from you for the last two years,” the singer said, before announcing The Tortured Poets Department, which will be released on 19 April.

Swift uploaded the cover to social media after leaving the stage, with a photo of lyrics that read: “And so I enter into evidence / My tarnished coat of arms / My muses, acquired like bruises / My talismans and charms / The tick, / tick, / tick, / of love bombs, / my veins of pitch black ink.” The image was signed by “The Chairman of the Tortured Poets Department”.

No official tracklist or features have been announced, but judging by her previous collaborations, The Tortured Poets Department will exceed our wildest dreams.

In last night’s ceremony, Swift made history when she won best album for Midnights, becoming the first artist to win the prize for a fourth time, having previously won for Fearless, 1989 and Folklore.
