A host of classic films are celebrating their 20th and 30th anniversary in 2024. Here are 13 of our favourites.
If we told you that it’s been two decades since Gretchen Wieners tried to make ‘fetch’ happen and Bridget Jones led a chorus of Like A Virgin in a Thai prison, would you believe us? Or 30 years since we first heard the iconic ‘Run, Forrest, run’ chant or watched Uma Thurman and John Travolta dance it out to Chuck Berry’s You Never Can Tell?
As it turns out, 2024 is a big year for film anniversaries, with some of pop culture’s most beloved movies celebrating their 20th and 30th birthday. From Mean Girls to The Notebook and Pulp Fiction to Little Women, here are 13 classic films that still stand the test of time, even decades later.

Mean Girls (2004)

While the recent musical revival film may have reintroduced us to Cady, Regina & Co, nothing will ever top the original Mean Girls movie. Giving us a lifetime of quotable lines (from “You go, Glen Coco” to “She doesn’t even go here”) the Tina Fey original continues to reign supreme as one of the best sleepover movies of all time.
The Notebook (2004)

Granted, the 2004 romance hasn’t aged perfectly – Noah (Ryan Gosling) pressuring Allie (Rachel McAdams) to date him makes for uncomfortable viewing 20 years later – but it still manages to capture the dizzying highs and lows of young love. If you’re a bird, I’m a bird…
Four Weddings And A Funeral (1994)
One of the quintessential romcoms of the 90s, Four Weddings And A Funeral really is Richard Curtis (and Hugh Grant’s hair) at their very best.
Bride & Prejudice (2004)

Directed by Gurinder Chadha (of Angus, Thongs And Perfect Snogging and Bend It Like Beckham fame), this Bollywood-style adaptation of Jane Austen’s 1813 novel Pride And Prejudice follows the Bakshi family matriarch as she tries to find suitable husbands for her daughters.

Watching Tom Hanks running across America will never not bring a tear to our eyes, even after 30 years.
Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen (2004)

2004 really was the year of Lindsay Lohan par excellence. The musical comedy film saw Lohan star as an aspiring teenage actor whose family moves from New York City to New Jersey. It also gave Megan Fox her theatrical film acting debut.
Little Women (1994)

While Greta Gerwig’s 2019 interpretation was undoubtedly brilliant, there will always be a place in our hearts for Little Women (1994) and its stellar cast of Winona Ryder, Claire Danes, Susan Sarandon, Kirsten Dunst and Christian Bale.
Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason (2004)
The ultimate sequel to 2001’s Bridget Jones’s Diary and with a soundtrack that never ages, The Edge Of Reason sees the return of lovable British heroine Bridget and follows her adventures after she begins to suspect that her boyfriend, Mark Darcy, is falling for a rich young solicitor working in the same firm as him. Cue signature hijinks and hilarity, including a stint in a Thai jail.
Pulp Fiction (1994)
The movie that launched a thousand film bros and that iconic poster, Quentin Tarantino’s tale of love, drugs and the criminal underworld is still considered a timeless cinema classic even three decades after its release.
13 Going On 30 (2004)

13 Going On 30 not only introduced us to Jenna Rink, a style icon for the ages, but also Lucy Wyman – one of the best movie BFF characters of all time.

Julie Andrews + Anne Hathaway = a dream combination in any setting, but especially when both are surfing on mattresses at possibly the coolest slumber party in the world.
