Bill Skarsgård is a man hell bent on revenge in the reboot of 90s cult classic The Crow. Here’s everything you need to know about the new supernatural horror film.
Based on James O’Barr’s graphic novels, The Crow follows a man who is resurrected from the dead and is set on avenging not only his own death but the murder of his fiancee too.
Directed by Snow White And The Huntsman’s Rupert Saunders and fronted by Bill Skarsgård (It) and FKA twigs, the grief-driven tale examines how violent trauma alters love and loss and the lengths someone will go to for revenge.
Despite its $50 million (£39m) budget, Saunders describes it as a “scrappy indie movie” that boasts all the darkness and violence found in the original book. Here’s everything you need to know about The Crow.
What is the plot of The Crow?
The Crow follows Skarsgård as Eric Draven, who is brutally murdered along with his soulmate, Shelly Webster, when the demons of her past catch up with them.
The story doesn’t end there, though. Eric is resurrected by a crow and given the chance to seek out revenge on his fiancee’s killer. This unstoppable desire to avenge her death leads Eric to travel between the living and the dead to put every wrong he chooses right.
Who stars in The Crow?
Starring opposite Skarsgård as Eric is Grammy-nominated singer FKA twigs as his fiancee, Shelly. The star-studded cast also features Danny Huston, Isabella Wei, Laura Birn and Jordan Bolger.
When is The Crow released?
The Crow is scheduled to be released in cinemas on 23 August.
