Here’s everything we know about Lindsay Lohan’s new Netflix romcom, Falling For Christmas.
Lindsay Lohan may have been making headlines for some questionable reasons over recent years, but fans remember her best for starring in iconic films such as Mean Girls, The Parent Trap and Freaky Friday. Many millennials who grew up watching Lohan just want to see the actor return to doing what she does best: making movies.
That’s why there’s a lot of excitement over Falling For Christmas, Netflix’s upcoming festive film which will see Lohan in its lead role.
Until very recently (3 October, to be precise), the name of the new Christmas film was being kept a closely guarded secret. But on the date, informally known to fans as Mean Girls day, both Lohan and Netflix shared the exciting news for us all to mark 10 November in our diaries for the big release of Falling For Christmas. Talk about fetch, right?
And as if we couldn’t be more excited for the upcoming renaissance of Lohan on the big screen, we finally have our first glimpse of the new festive film with the help of a new trailer.
But be warned: you will feel suitably festive after watching. With that, here’s everything you need to know about Falling For Christmas.

What is the plot of Falling For Christmas?
Well, the new festive romcom will be set in the snowy mountains, have a “will they/won’t they” plotline at its core and will star Lohan as Sierra Belmont, a “newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress”, according to the synopsis.
She’s enjoying her life of leisure with her fiancé when she gets into a skiing accident, suffers from total amnesia and finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.

Who else will star in Falling For Christmas?
While details have generally been kept under wraps up until now, previous casting announcements generated some further buzz around the upcoming release. Lohan’s on-screen love interest will be played by Chord Overstreet, who many people will recognise for his roles in Glee and The Bold Type. According to Netflix, he will play the “handsome lodge owner” and we can’t wait for some festive sparks to fly.
Also joining the cast will be George Young (Malignant), Jack Wagner (When Calls The Heart) and Olivia Perez (In The Heights).
As for the news of Lohan returning to her acting roots, it’s safe to say that fans have been overjoyed at the news for quite some time now.
Considering that Lohan’s last screen credit was 2019’s Among the Shadows, this is big news for her fans, even we have all been waiting eagerly since the initial announcement back in May 2021.
But that hasn’t stopped fans talking about it on Twitter, even predicting very big things for the star, tweeting: “Lindsay Lohan winning her first and long overdue Oscar in 2023.”
Is there a trailer for Falling For Christmas?
Finally, there is! While we were happy with the first look images (those of which are dotted throughout this article), the new trailer has got us deep in our festive feels and already has us pining for mistletoe, hot chocolates and advent calendars.
Lohan herself introduces the new trailer, which opens with a brief glimpse into her character, Sierra’s, glamorous lifestyle. She says: “When people look at me, all they see is the spoiled daughter of the hotel magnate. I just want people to remember me for more than my last name.”

She’s whisked away to snowy mountains on a luxurious ski trip and is proposed to, only to then be catapulted off the cliff by a storm. She’s quickly found by the witty lodge owner who takes her in and gets to know her, all while she’s worrying if anyone cares about her true whereabouts.
From the looks of the trailer, there’s romance and comedy in pretty hefty supply with this one – aka a great Christmas-themed hit, if you ask us. Watch the trailer here:
