Looking for your next film to watch? His Three Daughters will be available to stream on Netflix soon.

When you think about portrayals of sisterhood on the screen, what films come to mind? Whether it’s Greta Gerwig’s adored adaptation of Little Women that’s guaranteed to make you sob, the nostalgia of 10 Things I Hate About You or the feel-good tunes sung by Anna and Elsa in Frozen, sisterhood has been shown in all its joy, pain and everything in between over decades of cinema.

There’s no denying the appeal of films and TV shows that follow the lives of sisters. Whether you have a sibling or not, watching female friendships, strong bonds and challenges play out on screen is something many of us can relate to.

So fans of the genre will be thrilled to hear that Netflix will shortly be streaming a new film, His Three Daughters, which follows the trials and tribulations of three sisters living in New York. It’s billed as “tense, touching and funny”, meaning it’s going straight on our watch list.

Intrigued? Here’s everything you need to know about His Three Daughters

What is the plot of His Three Daughters?

His Three Daughters follows three estranged sisters as they come together in a New York apartment to take care of their ill father. A synopsis reads: “From writer-director Azazel Jacobs (French Exit, The Lovers) comes this bittersweet and often funny story of an elderly patriarch and the three grown daughters who come to be with him in his final days.

“Katie is a controlling Brooklyn mother dealing with a wayward teenage daughter; free-spirited Christina is a different kind of mum, separated from her offspring for the first time; and Rachel is a sports-betting stoner who has never left her father’s apartment – much to the chagrin of her half-sisters, who share a different mother and worldview. Continuing his astute exploration of family dynamics in close-knit spaces, Jacobs follows the siblings over the course of three volatile days, as death looms, grievances erupt, and love seeps through the cracks of a fractured home.”

Who stars in His Three Daughters?

His Three Daughters has a standout cast. Katie will be played by Carrie Coon (Fargo, The Gilded Age), Elizabeth Olsen (WandaVision, Love & Death) stars as Christina and the third sister, Rachel, is portrayed by Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll, Orange Is The New Black).

Rounding off the cast are Rudy Galvan, Jose Febus, Jasmine Bracey, Jay O Sanders and Jovan Adepo.
