“I am a really strong advocate of female rage,” says Anya Taylor-Joy of her new film, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
Whether it’s The Queen’s Gambit, Last Night In Soho, Emma or The Menu, Anya Taylor-Joy is one of those actors who positively dazzles in every project she takes on, and we’ve no doubt whatsoever that the same will be true of her new movie, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
The film has been making a lot of headlines of late, largely due to Taylor-Joy’s recent revelation that she is still processing the experience… even two years after filming.
“I’ve never been more alone than making that movie,” she told the New York Times.
“I don’t want to go too deep into it, but everything that I thought was going to be easy was hard.”

Intrigued by all of the primal savagery on show? Here, then, is what you need to know about Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
What is Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga about?
Set two decades before the events of the Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy’s film Mad Max: Fury Road, a young warrior named Furiosa is “snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and into the hands of a biker horde led by the warlord Dementus,” reads the official synopsis.
“While two tyrants war for dominance over the citadel, Furiosa survives many trials as she plots a way back home through the Wasteland.”
Who stars in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga?
Taylor-Joy takes the lead in this one as Furiosa, while Chris Hemsworth steps into the role of her abductor, Dementus.
They are joined by Quaden Bayles, Tom Burke, Nicholas Hoult, Xanthia Marinelli, Nathan Jones, Charlee Fraser, Lachy Hulme, Alyla Browne and more.
What are people saying about Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga?
Everyone who’s anyone is talking about Taylor-Joy’s aforementioned interview with the New York Times, in which she opened up about the intensity of filming under director George Miller.
“He had a very, very strict idea of what Furiosa’s war face looked like, and that only allowed me my eyes for a large portion of the movie. It was very much ‘mouth closed, no emotion, speak with your eyes’. That’s it, that’s all you have,” Taylor-Joy said.
Adding that she advocated for her character to let out a guttural scream in the movie, though, she added: “I am a really strong advocate of female rage.”
When and where can we watch Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga?
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is released Friday 24 May in UK cinemas.
