Produced by Cate Blanchett and starring Jessie Buckley, Riz Ahmed, Luke Wilson and Jeremy Allen White, Fingernails is one film we’re *very* excited about.
There are certain actors whose name alone will make us instantly excited about a project. Jessie Buckley is one of them. From I’m Thinking Of Ending Things to Men, we know that if Buckley’s involved, it’s going to be good.
That’s one reason to look forward to new film Fingernails, but it’s not the only one. Some more to whet your whistle: Riz Ahmed, Jeremy Allen White and Luke Wilson are also starring. And guess who’s one of the producers. None other than Cate Blanchett.
The names alone would be enough to get this added to our watch list, but the plot sounds right up our street, too. Here’s everything we know so far.

What’s Fingernails about?
This is not a film about getting a manicure. Instead, it’s a romantic drama with some sci-fi thrown in.
The story follows Anna (Jessie Buckley), who’s in a relationship with Ryan (Jeremy Allen White)… but isn’t sure if they’re the right match. Anna decides to take a position at an institute that figures out if couples are meant to be together based on a scan of their fingernails (hence the film’s title). It’s there Anna meets Amir (Riz Ahmed), and we imagine some interesting relationship-themed drama ensues because the test determines that Anna and Ryan are a good match, but Anna still isn’t convinced. Instead, she’s feeling more of an old-fashioned spark with Amir.

Who will star in Fingernails?
Jessie Buckley (The Lost Daughter) plays Anna, Jeremy Allen White (The Bear, Shameless) is her partner, Ryan, and Riz Ahmed (Sound Of Metal, Nightcrawler, Four Lions) is Amir, who, judging from the first-look images, might have some romance with Anna.
Also involved is Luke Wilson (The Royal Tenenbaums), but we don’t know yet what role he plays, and the same goes for Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek, Black Mirror).
