A grieving woman seeks solace deep in an isolated forest, and instead finds herself trapped in a universal nightmare. This is what you need to know about Netflix’s Don’t Move.
If you’re anything like this writer, you’ve likely screamed all sorts of things at people in horror movies before. “Don’t go upstairs; run out the front door!” is a favourite. “Get out of the house!” is another. And let’s not forget the pantomime-favourite mantra: “He’s behind you!”
Here’s the thing, though; all of those suggestions demand that our protagonist move, in some way or another. And that’s why the premise of Netflix and Sam Raimi’s new horror, Don’t Move, makes for such a genuinely terrifying one: the young woman being pursued by her would-be killer has been injected with a paralytic drug and is slowly losing control of her body.
Before too long, all she’ll be able to do is blink, as her arms and legs become frozen in place.

Creepy, right? Let’s dive on into the details…
What’s Don’t Move about?
As per the official synopsis, Don’t Move tells the story of Iris, a “grieving woman hoping to find solace deep in an isolated forest”, only to be confronted by a stranger who injects her with a paralytic agent.
“As the agent gradually takes over her body, she must run, hide and fight for her life before her entire nervous system shuts down,” it finishes.
Who stars in Don’t Move?
Kelsey Asbille takes the lead as Iris, while American Horror Story: Hotel’s Finn Wittrock stars as our creepy villain.
Downton Abbey’s Moray Treadwell and Bridgerton’s Daniel Francis round off our cast nicely.
What are people saying about Don’t Move?
Produced by the aforementioned Raimi, this horror swerves the usual tropes of the genre to give us something that’s surprisingly emotional.
“To read the script itself was like a non-stop page-turner,” Raimi tells Tudum.
“It’s a moving experience, especially for a suspense film.”
“It’s a propulsive, stripped-down thriller that manages to feel very personal at times,” Asbille agrees. “That’s what resonated with me, fighting desperately to overcome something that has left you feeling paralysed.”
When and where can we watch Don’t Move?
Don’t Move hits Netflix on Friday 25 October. Will you be tuning in?
