Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell are (pretending to be) besotted with one another in the steamy new trailer for Anyone But You.

Ever since it was announced back in January, Sony Pictures’s upcoming romantic comedy Anyone But You has well and truly piqued our interest, not least because of the much-discussed chemistry between the lead actors, Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney and Top Gun: Maverick’s Glen Powell. But that’s not the only draw.

Directed by Easy A’s Will Gluck, the film has been touted as a loose modernisation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, in which young lovers Hero and Claudio conspire to get verbal sparring partners and confirmed singles, Benedick and Beatrice, to wed as well.

Anyone But You’s premise is this: Bea (Sweeney) and Ben (Powell) are college arch-nemeses who are forced to reunite years after graduation for a destination wedding. So they do what any two mature adults would do and pretend to be in love.

They may only look like the perfect couple, but if the trailer is anything to go by, sparks quickly begin to fly between the old flames turned fake lovers.

“Let’s just tell everyone we’re together,” Bea suggests while they take a sunset sailboat ride. “There’s no way we could convince anyone we actually like each other,” Ben responds. And while the two of them roll their eyes at the very thought, footage flashing throughout the trailer makes it clear their chemistry is undeniable.
