Netflix has finally announced when Emily In Paris will be back on our screens – and shared an intriguing first trailer.

The show that rekindled our love for kir royales, introduced the world to a heartthrob who cut his teeth in Grange Hill and fuelled our obsession with grown-up Parisian fashion (Sylvie’s, obviously) is back. Or at least, it will be soon. Emily In Paris is returning for a fourth season on Netflix and we finally got our first trailer. In the teaser, we see Emily right back in the middle of her triangle amoureux with Gabriel and Camille. Oh yeah, and her messy breakup with Alfie. And… maybe… dating both of them? Naturally, Sylvia isn’t too pleased with just how public Emily’s romantic entanglements seem to be. And, of course, there are lots and lots and lots of fabulous clothes. “Get ready to chic things up,” reads the text in the trailer. Nous sommes prêts!

Netflix previously announced that the fourth season is set to drop in two parts. The first part lands on 15 August, while the second part is due on 12 September. So, mark those calendars tout suite!

Earlier this year, Netflix also released the very first teaser for the new season in which the cast all described the new season in three words.

“Vulnerable and adventurous,” said Collins, while Camille Razat (who plays Camille in the show) offered “messy”.  Meanwhile, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (who stars as the iconic Sylvie) simply said: “This season sums up to one word: revenge.” OK, we are officially intrigued!

The news that season four was in the works was originally shared by Lily Collins in an Instagram post, which included a selfie of her with the script for the first episode. Previously, Collins had shared the season four update in an announcement video last year when she spoke directly to fans.

“It’s safe to say we ended on a dramatic note last season, and surprise! It does not end there,” Collins says in the clip, shared via Netflix’s Tudum YouTube channel.

In season four, the cast and crew of Emily In Paris “have more fun, more fashion and of course more drama in store for you all”, Collins promises. So let’s take a look at what we know about the next season so far.

What happened at the end of Emily In Paris season 3?

If you haven’t yet caught up, stop reading now. In the deliciously soapy (and shocking) season three finale, which dropped on Netflix in December 2022, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Camille (Camille Razat) break up at the altar when she reveals she is well aware that he and Emily are in love with one another. Of course, unbeknown to Gabriel, Camille is actually infatuated with Sofia (Melia Kreiling), which adds a whole other dimension to proceedings.

Unwilling to be Emily’s second choice, her boyfriend Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) promptly breaks up with her. That leaves Emily and Gabriel free to see if they have a shot as a couple – until he reveals that the only reason he proposed to Camille in the first place is because she’s pregnant. (Just imagine being a guest at that wedding. Whew.)

What is the plot of Emily In Paris season 4?

So how will season four unfold? After the dramatic events of Camille and Gabriel’s misbegotten wedding, Emily is reeling: She has strong feelings for two men, but now Gabriel’s expecting a baby with his ex, and Alfie’s worst fears about her and Gabriel have been confirmed. At work, Sylvie is forced to confront a thorny dilemma from her past for the sake of her marriage, and the Agence Grateau team navigates personnel shakeups. Mindy and the band prepare for Eurovision, but when funds run dry, they’re forced to get thrifty. Emily and Gabriel’s chemistry is undeniable as they work together towards a Michelin star, but two big secrets threaten to undo everything they’ve dreamed of.

In separate interviews, Emily In Paris creator Darren Star also shared some clues as to the plot in season four. Last year, he told The Wrap that we will see Gabriel learn of Camille’s relationship with Sofia, and that the reveal will be “explosive” when it takes place. We’re also due to see more of the magnificent Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), including her open marriage with nightclub owner Laurent G (Arnaud Binard).

“I think we’re [going to] find out, possibly, even a little bit more of what’s behind [their relationship] in season four as they reconnect and spend more time together and recommit to each other,” Star said. He added that the forthcoming season will see Emily throw herself into her career again, but that she will be required to “be more graceful in terms of work” – and there will be some “fallout” from the “damage” she’s caused to her relationship with long-suffering colleague Julien (Samuel Arnold).

Despite this, Emily will have “unexpectedly matured a lot,” Star added. “I think she’s feeling way more comfortable living in Paris… She’s really finding herself there.”

Which cast members are returning for Emily In Paris season 4?

Collins, Bravo, Razat, Leroy-Beaulieu, Binard and Arnold are all reprising their roles for season four. Ashley Park will return as Mindy, the first friend Emily made in Paris.

Melia Kreiling and Paul Forman will also be rejoining the cast as newer characters Sofia and Nicolas, the love interests of Camille and Mindy respectively.

Bruno Gouery and William Abadie are expected to return as Emily’s Agence Grateau colleague Luc and her client Antoine Lambert.

Will season 4 of Emily In Paris be its last?

TV can be a fickle beast, and cancellations can always come out of the blue – but creator Star previously told E! News that he didn’t want the forthcoming season of Emily In Paris to be its last. “Hopefully season four isn’t the end,” he said, adding: “I feel like we’re all creatively feeling like we’re in the middle of something not heading towards the end.”

When will season 4 of Emily In Paris be released?

Emily in Paris is set to land on Netflix in two parts: the first part drops on 15 August, while part two is set to drop on 12 September.
